Our Story
Hi and thanks for visiting our shop and checking out what we’re all about at Reilly Creation
The Beginning
I started woodworking when I was 10ish. It started with my dad doing stuff around the house, building the deck on the back of our house, building all of the cabinets in the kitchen and a bunch of other fun projects. Every once in a while i was able to help him out by screwing in planks or tightening a bolt. As I got older my dad would let me use some of the more fun tools… You know the power tools, the saws, and my personal favorite, the SAWZALL 😉
So as I become better at wood working learning to measure twice and cut once (boy does that one sneak up on me every once in a while). I started building my own furniture, it started with a book case and then a night stand and then other small projects here and there. Not only was it a great way to pass time and put my creativity to work, it was also a great way to spend time with my dad.
Then I was getting to that age of college.. Now the problem was I couldn’t bring all the tools with me and I had summers full of being busy and traveling to hangout with friends… Wood working took a halt. and It didn’t come back after college either. I moved out of my parents house and once again was toolless.
The First Tool
I started working as a mechanical engineer and learned about something that really really got me thinking about woodworking again. One of my friends just bought a CNC machine. And, boy, was I intrigued. Combine technology and wood working? HELL YEA!!
So I bought one too 🙂 This was the first tool that I could officially say was mine. Although it was at my parents house, I wasn’t far and it made my parents happy. It was a win-win.
So now what? I just spent thousands on a new tool.. That was dumb.. I don’t even have anything to make with it. WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?! I started to brainstorm and just make a bunch of stuff. Anything I could think of. School logos, coasters, and my first product… a beer flight.
Reilly Creation was Born!!
Now I’m thinking… Cool… Maybe I can make money on this. And maybe I can customize each one and make personalized gifts!!. There has to be a place online. right? So I start looking and find my online market place that I can start recouping some money. And I make some sales. Nothing that can make me a killing but it was fun a lot of fun! Just being able to create and make customers happy made me happy.
Which means I found a new passion. Personalized gifts. But I was stagnate for years with trying to find a new product that people would love… That is… Until I met the most wonderful girl in the word. Wendy, my yoga doing girlfriend. she came up with the idea to make personalized yoga mat holders. and there we go. We have a new greatest hit!! And Reilly Creations was born!
The Journey Continues
The business is picking up and we want to spread the word on our personalized gifts. We make each one at our small house in New Jersey and ship world wide. Our goal is to make our products as best as we can and put a smile on your face with a great product and great customer service. And we hope you get just that!
